What brings you joy in your daily life?
I love my work as a therapist, and it truly fulfills me on a daily basis. Giving excellent care to people is one of the greatest joys in my life. I also find joy in reading and writing poetry, learning new painting techniques, and being in nature.

What is one interesting thing you have done or learned during the pandemic?

One thing that the pandemic taught me is the value of slowing down and taking things one day at a time. I developed daily writing rituals that helped me feel more anchored in the midst of the disorientation and confusion of the last year. These practices gradually developed into a book of poetry and photography.

Are you a dog or a cat person?
I love all animals, even snakes and spiders! If I had to choose, I would say I’m a cat person. As an adult, my first pet was a tabby cat who lived to be 19 years old. More recently, we adopted two stray kittens two years ago and they are the sweetest little girls.

What helps you to feel calm in life?

A walk in the forest, or anywhere in nature, always brings me home to a sense of calm. Whenever I am sitting under an old-growth tree, watching the stars, or leaning against a stone, my body feels peaceful and centered.

What are your hobbies or aspirations outside of being a therapist?

I love exploring different mediums for abstract art and ways to combine visual abstract artwork and poetry. Right now, I’m working in encaustic, which is the process of painting with colored wax using a blowtorch or a heat gun. I love to watch how the wax comes alive as it melts and forms the most unique shapes.

Do you prefer tea or coffee? And what is your favorite food/snack?

How about both? I love a good cup of coffee in the morning and tea in the evening as a way to wind down. My favorite type of food is cheese: all the cheese, any kind of cheese!

What is your style of therapy?

My style of therapy is warm, gentle, and encouraging. I believe that every person has a deep wisdom that is uniquely theirs, and I support clients in accessing and experiencing that.

Are there any books, magazines, newsletters, podcasts or websites you would recommend?

I love the poetry of Mary Oliver, David Whyte, Barbara Kingsolver, and Wendyll Berry. I love podcasts, and right now I’m listening to “Breakfast Poetry” with Annemarie Viviane, “Unlocking Us” with Brene Brown, and “IFS Talks.”
